So, indeed, we arrived to Holland a couple of months ago and since that day we have been fighting and waiting to get our internet working properly, paperwork to be done and rain to stop. It rains about every day! Crazy Dutch climate.. But now it’s all about done, except for the rain. I’m back in the office too, so things kind of roll on their own weight and days just go by.

I have to say that Holland doesn’t feel as nice as it was last time and the company I’m in, has grown in many ways, which makes it somehow a bit chaotic. I suppose it just takes time to get used to this European working culture again.. Argentina was.. something else. In many ways, I miss it.

But here we are, below this post you can see some pictures and you can also expect to see more later on. I also might try and post some videos but no promises, like said, things tend to roll on their own weight and days just go by.

A short note about today’s program. We’ll be leaving General Roca this evening, so during today, I’m going to pack my computer and the next time it’s up is still a mystery. So just stay tuned, I’ll post something when we have settled to our new home and everything has started to roll on more or less on it’s own weight again.

Thank you Argentina, it’s been a great experience and all that!

Moving Today

Things got confirmed and today we booked the flights. In two weeks we’ll be moving overseas, once again, and trying to settle in Hilversum, Netherlands. Shouldn’t be a problem at all, though, once we get there. We already have an apartment waiting for us to move in and the good thing is, there’s an Argentinian restaurant no further than downstairs! I hope they serve some of the juiciest food we have been able to enjoy here during these months. It’s been enjoyable in other ways too, so certainly some things will be missed, but.. life goes on.

ETA Two Weeks

As it’s been really quiet for me workwise here in Argentina and as a freelancer, we might be forced to move somewhere where I can go back to an office and more or less regular working hours. I sent quite a few emails to different companies in Finland without any response but yesterday I got a reply to my mail from Holland, from the same design company I used to work in some years ago. They are interested in hiring me back and if that’s to happen, there’s going to be a change of scenery again. From Argentina to Holland.

Moving there and leaving Argentina behind would be pretty sad and nice at the same time. I haven’t been able to see too much of this country yet but there sure is a lot to see in Holland too! In fact, so much that it could deserve a chapter three. Would you like that? ..if I promised to post more often than in this chapter!

Chapter Three?

Ana, her mom and I went to take a closer look at the ‘mountains’ surrounding this valley. Now, I had seen some pictures before and had some sort of an idea of what to expect but actually being there for real is way different, of course. Anyway, I can’t take you there for real, so here are some pictures from the journey to the edge of the ‘world’. Hope you like them!

Journey to the Edge of the World

Well, as I haven’t been posting anything – again – for a while, I thought I’d better post something at least. So, here’s a local piece of meat called vacío. Freshly cooked and cut, put between little sandwiches with mayo and finally served with red wine. Absolutely no words would do justice to the taste! Yummy! ..is all I can say.

A massive earthquake, measuring 8,8 in magnitude, struck Chile last night. It was over 500 kilometers away from General Roca, so it didn’t wake us up but was felt by people awake at the time. Being this far away from the center, it’s safe to say what a pity I was sleeping, it would’ve been nice to experience something like that in full awareness. Stay clear from the beaches if you happen to be on the way of the tsunami it caused.

Sorry, I didn’t have a camera with me this time but I have to say a mariachi in this environment was much more fun to see than it would be ridiculous in Finland. And the audience wasn’t just listening, thumb up for the guy with a sombrero and another one for the local people who sang along at times. Very nice experience in a very pretty terrace or more like a yard of a restaurant Ana’s aunt owns. It was close to midnight but shorts with a t-shirt and flip flops were more than enough.

El Mariachi

It’s been a while since my last post. Might make you assume I’ve been busy toasting myself on the roof terrace or diving in the pool of the club Ana’s mom takes us at times. But no, it’s not quite like that. I haven’t got any work to do lately, so I’ve been busy doing some 3D to show somewhere. I don’t really have a portfolio that I could be proud of – thanks to some broken hard drives in the past and some not so pretty work projects I’ve been let to be part of – so I’m basically forced to make new pictures. It’s fine though, I want to show some new stuff to potential new clients/employees but at the same time, it takes time. Thank god it’s cheap to live here.

So, no new photos at this time, not much to say either. Just trying to do some pics and get a work project at some point.

It’s hot.

Merry Christmas to everyone and have a happy but safe New Year’s Eve too! Here in Argentina it’s a waste of time to wish for a white Christmas but can’t complain about ~30ºC warmth and super bright sun either.

Stay safe all and EAT! MEAT!

Long time no sauna – until today! At the back of one barbershop in the center of General Roca, an oldish originally Italian man is keeping a very European, if not even Finnish, sauna. With the Sauna Suomi -thermostat, you can ask the owner to heat it up to 120°C if you like hot. We decided to try 80°C for now and it turned out to be just perfect as after a short while the temperature was around 90 degrees.

The sauna room itself was really comfortable with headrests and enough space to lie down. The owner had even put some eucalyptus oil in the water to throw on stones, which was really nice as I’m feeling a little flu-ish.

The entry from inside.ShowerDoor to the sauna room. The sauna room.Resting chairs.TVSauna Suomi -thermostat.

There was the usual sauna room, showers and dressing space but also an additional room for resting chairs and a radio. Very impressive and all in all the sauna experience in Argentina turned out to be super good. The price for one person is 40 pesos which is around 7 euros at the moment. That’s not too bad considering you can spend two hours in the sauna, get fridge cold water served and you don’t actually have to take anything at all with you. Towels and all is on the house.

Definitely will go there as often as possible, most likely once a week at least!

Sauna!

Ready for the summer! After some shopping yesterday and today, I got myself a pair of new t-shirts, flip flops, shorts and today the sunglasses to finish the preparation for the coming heat. Already it’s warm enough to wear all that, so can’t complain about the spring either.

Evening sun in our roof terrace around 20:00, enjoying the so-not-finnish weather.

My regular and most active readers must’ve noticed already that I added a new page to chaptertwo, called Shout. It’s basically a guestbook for you to leave a little note for me, just to say hi or give some feedback, ask questions etc.

Hope you like it and above all, use it ;)
